Dealing with Loss

If you know me, you know I love culture, art, the whole lot. I have always drawn a lot from these sources, jokes, phrases, style, perspectives, life lessons, you name it. People always give me a hard time saying “Evan, that’s the movies, that’s not real life”, and while yes that’s true to an extent, you must remember these materials are written by humans who inject real life elements and stories. Things that have happened to them or people they know, they’re personal feelings and thoughts. Sometimes the make believe isn’t too far off.

When we lost my cousin and I saw his sisters crying, not even just a few years after losing their dad, I thought to myself what can I even say to these girls? It wasn’t a few years later until I lost my sister that I fully understood, there was nothing I could have said.

Now I know a quote from the walking dead to be true, and I find its all I have to offer someone whose dealing with the pain of loss.
