Dead Kulture / DEADER THAN EVER
As we move further into Dead Kulture things continue to deteriorate at a rapid rate.
Part 1, focused on cataloging some of my observations of the internet and social media’s effect on human behavior. As well as the consequence of stripping the soul out of the creative process. I briefly touched on how A.i is also beginning to contribute to this, being the next big tech wave.
Part 2, dove deeper into A.i’s role in The Dead Kulture Theory.
I’m using this 3rd installment as an expansion pack to both these parts. To include new information and examples that further strengthen the theory.
These are things I would have included but we didn’t have them yet. Which brings up an interesting point. The further we get into this Dead Kulture, the more you will see stuff like this. A few things I predicted in pt.1 & 2 have come to pass.
“The machines are advancing even faster than I told you they would” — John Connor, judgement day is coming.
— The A.I Race
A.i has been advancing at an alarming rate. So much so that Elon Musk along with many scientists and great minds of our times say we should slow down. Some say this is so they can catch up. I can see that. Either way, with the arrival of Chat-gpt4, we have seen a major leap with the tech. Now people are developing plug-ins. We will begin seeing more and more integration of A.i into the applications we have come accustomed to.
Chat GPT has integrated with Bing. Google has released their A.i. Meta has announced they have started an A.i division. AutoGPT is being paired with Zapier. Everyone is chasing the wave. Money is being made and people are freaking out over the gloom possibilities of all this. The unethical datasets remain an issue. Adobe has released a new A.i that is 100% opted-in datasets which is nice to hear. I always imagined it couldn’t be too hard to do it the right way, and they proved that.
With the new wave of A.i, you also have a new wave of guru creators. Blowing up and making money by telling you how to make money from using chat gpt.
Many of them are talking about writing crappy blogs. Whose going to be reading blogs if they can just ask chat gpt everything they need to know? No point in blogging anymore. Then of course you have to ask if there’s no new blogs, or A.i is writing all the new blogs. Won’t eventually it run out of new original material to train off of? Just a hypothetical.
Although competition is good and drives innovation. With this race, comes a blatant disregard for ethical safeguards. Google was keeping its a.i under wraps due to concerns. Once Open A.i became a giant over night, they could no longer afford to play it safe. They announced the release not long after chatgpt blew up.
Bad Actor’s Love New Tech
— A.i ain’t all bad.
As I have said, I am a proponent of A.i just like I am of social media and the internet. Its amazing technology and I am excited for the future. I just wish we put some safeguards on it like we should have done with the internet and social media. I wanted to highlight some cool things emerging from the space.
As mentioned before, Adobe has released an ethical A.i with 100% opt-in, or public domain trained model.
— More Burnout?
In the first entry to the series I talked about burnout and how it affected creators. How they are forced to bend the knee to the algorithms, and pursue $ instead of passion. They are so niched down they have to do the same thing over and over. A soulless and endless race for more followers, more views, more monetization. This can lead people into very dangerous territory. You see creators have to step away for their mental health because they have not found that balance. I came across an Instagram scroll that showcases it well. For every example I share throughout this series. There are thousands if not millions with the same views, situations, and feelings.

— Foreshadowing a dark future for artists?
Hopefully the story of Zhang Wei does not become the norm, but I suspect it just might. Zhang scored a gig to do some 65 sketches, but was quickly replaced when the company discovered a.i.
“To add insult to injury, he was even shown the artwork generated with the new technology. “It was pretty good,” Zhang told Chinese outlet Guokr last month, speaking under a pseudonym. More importantly, with the AI tool, each image cost the company only 2 cents.” -https://www.vice.com/en/article/ake53e/ai-art-lawsuits-midjourney-dalle-chatgpt
This is what creatives in all fields are worried about.
— Social Media Capitalizing on Dead Kulture
One thing, Dead Kulture talks about. Is the people’s need to chase algorithms. Having to become characters to blow up. So they can feel like someone important and successful. Social Media companies have not been doing well, so what do they do? They prey on that person’s insecurities and deepest desires. All for a very lucrative stream of monthly income.
They dress it up as something amazing they are doing for you, “verifying people” “added protection”, “boosted stats” & “direct access to support”… like what??!
If it was about verifying people and protecting them. They would have allowed everyone to verify from the very beginning for free. With a simple id check/phone verification like many sites do.
To me, this is disgusting. I am sad for anyone who feels the need to actually pay for it. It is interesting to me though and speaks directly to the themes of the dead Kulture theory. I feel my theory is vindicated. If you still don’t see the Dead Kulture, don’t worry this is just the beginning.
— Careful what you Wish for?
I find so many people are not chasing these goals for financial freedom. More times than not its about the fame, the clout, the being somebody. I would question if people truly want that? Being rich is cool but being famous looks wack now.
Maybe before the internet when celebrities were Rockstar’s, sure. Back when their only worry was the occasional rolling stone article. Now we live in this over analyzed age of picking apart every little thing celebrities do and say. Like they aren’t regular people. Feeds are flooded 24/7 with entertainment tonight bullshit. We act like we are a society so against bullying, but it seems like we love it. Makes people feel good about themselves I suppose.
I have gone semi viral on a few occasions and had all sorts of people comment all sorts of wild stuff on my content. Either lacking all the context or misunderstanding something completely, or just trolling/hating.
They will label you all sorts of stuff that could not be further from the truth of your character. Its just a weird thing to experience. Now I imagine that on a world scale where its non stop, that would be wack as hell lol.
But if it is truly what you want. Remember, everyone has haters. People will be in Doja Cat’s comments, someone at the height of their career, and say she fell off. Its like she ain’t even started yet wtf lol. People’s perception is all out of wack. They are so quick to dismiss other’s accomplishments to feel better about their position in life. Their negative energy is more of a reflection on them and their character than it is of you and yours.
This also speaks to the short attention span I mentioned back in part one. You dam near have to release a new song every day to stay relevant to these youngins. Otherwise you fell off lol.
Clarification & Conclusion
Everything in my first two “Clarification & Conclusion” sections remain true and still apply. I will say that instead of repeating too much of myself.
It’s wild to see how much stuff has been popping up in 6 months. We will no doubt see some crazy stuff with this A.i. Just imagine what it will look like in 10 years, for me, its equal parts exciting/terrifying. All the McDonalds will probably be automated lol.
That touches on threads outside the creative realm. Which is exactly where I want to take the Dead Kulture Theory Series. This series started off with the sentences:
I been toying with a concept I call “Dead Kulture”.
Its a theory, of sorts, to describe the world we are living in right now.
We have covered social media, the internet, and A.i. We have seen how those things have changed our society in regards to creative fields. Its time to take a much broader look at the world to try and clock all contributing factors to our Dead Kulture.
